This first UK government PFI has consistently proved value for money in the quantity and quality of training that has been delivered. The value of the facility can be summed up by a RAF pilot, on exchange with the RDAF flying Merlin EH101, who returned to the facility to brief on a triple engine failure at night, on the real aircraft, on NVG and at low level over a forest. In his words, the training he received at MSHATF was the reason that he successfully landed the stricken aircraft.
