A core requirement of the Aircraft Survivability Equipment Trainer (ASET IV) program is to operate the Longbow Apache Tactical Engagement Simulation System (LBA TESS) equipment employed by the Opposing Force (OPFOR) Detachment. ICE has produced and fielded TESS systems for more than 25 years for U.S. and International Customers on both air and ground vehicle platforms. Aviation TESS is used on multiple aircraft platforms for test and training at all U.S. Army Combat Training Centers (CTCs) and Aviation Home Stations. The AH-64 LBA TESS training system consists of an A-kit permanently installed at the manufacturer facility (Boeing), and a B-kit that is added to the aircraft for training exercises. Weapons simulation is provided for the 30mm Gun, Rockets, and Semi-Automated Laser (SAL) and Radio Frequency (RF) Missiles. In 2002, AH-64 TESS was integrated with the Helicopter Integrated Defense Aid System (HIDAS) suite of air defense detection and countermeasure products. It is currently used by the UK and Kuwait for AH-64 Force-on-Force training. ICE’s experience providing TESS support to the 120th Infantry Brigade has generated highly specialized and unique qualifications. Combining this expertise, oversight and capabilities in support of the ASET IV program would provide natural synergies and cost efficiencies, resulting in likely taxpayer savings.
