Cyber Test Analysis and Simulation Environment (Cyber TASE) program

Cyber Test Analysis and Simulation Environment (Cyber TASE) is a Test Resource Management Center (TRMC)-sponsored Central Test and Evaluation Investment Program (CTEIP) capability enhancement program. SCALABLE was awarded the contract in 2014 to address the lack of effective cyber testing instrumentation to assess defensive mechanisms and the lack of a mature Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) environment to model large-scale operational scenarios. Cyber TASE assess how specific cyber threats operationally impact the system under test and enhance existing constructive cyber test simulation capabilities to identify the cyber vulnerabilities of operational networks and applications. SCALABLE vastly improved LVC capabilities by implementing an enhanced, scalable simulation environment that is easily customizable to support multiple simultaneous tests with large-scale operationally-realistic scenarios. CyberTASE is integrating cutting edge data collection, analysis, and visualization tools to provide a cohesive and robust data collection capability that supports the gamut of cyber tests. This advanced system will assess and visualize the impact of cyber threats on the System Under Test (SUT) and its ability to complete its mission. During a Cyberspace test, the instrumentation will be easily accessible to different testers and will collect discrete data that is made available for detailed analysis both in near real-time (NRT) and post-test. This data will then be used to produce detailed visualizations depicting the test events and timelines correlating into a comprehensive report.
 
CyberTASE also led to the development of a constructive cyber simulation which is critical to cost containment and to a technically viable execution of the overall Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) Test and Evaluation environment. The constructive cyber simulation environment will be able to mimic large scale, operationally relevant cyber scenarios as well as the SUT. These large-scale simulations will be quick and easy to setup and configure. Furthermore, they will be able to be executed using pre-defined libraries of critical DoD-relevant components, network and IT system models, vulnerabilities, and attack models. The constructive cyber simulation will collect, report, and visualize the relevant statistics required for analyzing the impacts of cyber-attacks.
