Dr. Rajive Bagrodia

Dr. Rajive Bagrodia founded SCALABLE Network Technologies in 1999 in the wake of significant innovations his research group achieved in the theory and practice of performance prediction for complex, large-scale computer and communication systems. Dr. Bagrodia recognized the opportunity to translate that academic work into powerful products leveraged by the defense community. Dr. Bagrodia's experience with research projects such as Maisie, Parsec, and GloMoSim first led to the creation of SCALABLE's QualNet® network simulation product line. QualNet tools enable users to build "software virtual networks" which accurately predict the behavior of dynamic communications environments. Simulations are run in "virtual time" which reduces many hours of real-time communications to just seconds of processing while maintaining high precision. Dr. Bagrodia recognized the opportunity to translate that academic work into powerful products leveraged by the defense community. From there, Dr. Bagrodia grew his small business and drove the creation of many modeling and simulation, test and analysis and cyber assessment products. He also is responsible for creating a highly-successful contract development and engineering services branch of SCALABLE. His contributions led to SCALABLE securing and delivering on numerous successful contract projects for the defense community. He has successfully completed several projects in the assessment of the resiliency or vulnerabilities of networks and communication-enabled systems to a variety of cyber threats, most notably: CyberTASE, STRATCOM, StealthNet and NETCOM. His work in the S&T Community continues to provide cutting-edge software solutions to help our defense community meet their continuously evolving needs. His contributions deliver network virtualization technology for development, analysis, testing, cyber assessment and training for applications and networks to our defense community. His work also enables users to evaluate the effectiveness and cyber resiliency of networked communications environments and train on large net-centric systems over the life of the environment. His work provides cost-effective and easy-to-use alternative to physical testbeds that typically have high equipment costs, complex setup requirements and limited scalability. It also provides accurate performance characteristics of the mission-critical networks and the supported operational missions with rapid turnaround and high confidence.
